The pain is not really the problem. The stiffness that arrives before the pain is the problem.

The knee that needs a moment before it will take your weight. The hands that do not open properly until the second cup of tea. The hip that decides how your morning is going to go before you have said a word to anyone.

Traditional Chinese medicine did not approach stiff joints as a structural problem first. It approached them as a circulation and inflammation problem — which is why this looks different from most of what you have probably tried.

The three phases

Phase 1 — Days 1 to 10: Cool the fire.
Ten days of the anti-inflammatory food protocol. Not a list of things to avoid, but the specific additions: turmeric prepared the way that makes it absorbable, which is not the way most people use it. Ginger at the right time of day. The two cooking oils to swap and the one to keep. Full meal plans.

Phase 2 — Days 11 to 20: Move the fluid.
Stiff joints are partly a fluid distribution problem. Ten days of the gentle daily movement sequence — fully seated, ten minutes, written for people who are already sore — plus the self-massage direction for knees, hips and hands, and the heat protocol traditional practice applies before movement rather than after.

Phase 3 — Days 21 to 30: Protect what you have.
Ten days of the collagen-supporting food protocol, the sleep position adjustments for hip and knee pain, and the morning warm-up that gives you something to do with that first stiff hour.

What is inside

  • The 30-day plan, one page per day
  • 30 days of anti-inflammatory meal plans with shopping lists
  • The 10-minute daily seated movement sequence
  • The self-massage protocol for knees, hips and hands
  • The heat application guide: when, where, how long
  • A printable tracker for morning stiffness duration, pain level and sleep quality
  • The audiobook version of this guide, free

Who this is for

Adults with osteoarthritis, age-related stiffness, or long-standing joint pain who want a daily structure alongside their treatment.

Who this is not for

Anyone with a sudden, hot, swollen joint — that needs a doctor this week. And anyone with rheumatoid arthritis should speak to their rheumatologist before changing their diet significantly.

Straight answers

I have had a knee replacement. Can I do the movements? The seated sequence is gentle, but ask your surgeon first.
Do I stop my anti-inflammatory medication? No. Keep taking what is prescribed.
What changes first? Readers usually mention the length of the morning stiffness before they mention the pain.
Is there a printed book? No. Instant PDF plus the audiobook.

Packed with Great info

Its a good book on what drives inflammation and how to cut down or mitigate it in our lives. I was hoping for more recipes for everyday changes for those who cant afford organic and grass-fed everything and not so much the recipes included. Great info on reducing inflammation many things Ive never read. He sites his studies and sources. Great podcast with Josh Axe and Josh Redd that directed me to the book.

I love this book! It is my go-to for beating inflammation and anxiety. Incredible how food choices can change your life forever, thanks Dr. Josh!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Life-Changing Reset — Finally Seeing Results, Mentally and Physically

I don’t usually write reviews, but this book absolutely deserves it.After having three kids, I struggled to lose weight. I was tracking macros, working out consistently, and doing everything right — yet the scale wouldn’t budge and my energy was always low. I also dealt with constant brain fog, anxiety and relied heavily on caffeine just to get through the day.I decided to try The 30-Day Inflammatory Reset, and the results honestly shocked me.In just two weeks, I’m already down 10 pounds and feel incredible. But even more important than the weight loss is how I feel:• My brain fog is completely gone• My energy is steady all day• I’m no longer dependent on caffeine• My body feels less inflamed and more balanced and not so on the edge all the timeThe book is easy to follow, realistic for busy moms, and explains the why behind the approach without being overwhelming. The meal guidance and structure made it simple to stay consistent, even with a full schedule. After years of doing all the “right” things without results, this finally helped my body respond. If you’ve been working hard but not seeing progress, or you feel tired, inflamed, or stuck — this book is absolutely worth the read.I feel like I finally have my energy, clarity, and confidence back. Highly recommend!

So excited to keep using this!

I got this book a little while ago and I’ve absolutely loved it so far. Dr. Redd does an amazing job explaining inflammation and the immune system in a way that’s easy to understand and actually motivating. The recipes are simple, nourishing, and delicious — and I’m so excited to keep trying more of them. I got the hard cover book and am very pleased with it. It is well made with beautiful pictures!I’ve really enjoyed following Dr. Redd and trust his expertise, and this book reflects that knowledge in such a practical, encouraging way! If you’re looking to support your immune system, reduce inflammation, and feel better overall, this is a great resource to have on hand and I highly recommend it!

Disappointing. Not my favorite.

This book popped up on sale before Christmas. I already own a few anti-inflammatory eating cook books, but because of the great reviews, and the discounted price, I decided to purchase it. I'm always looking to expand my list of recipes, so I figured, "Why not?" Overall, I'm pretty disappointed in it.First, it's set up to provide information on anti-inflammatory diets and give shopping tips rather than just focusing on recipes. That would be fine (and is helpful for someone new to this way of eating) but it's done in an odd way. I included a photo of a page as an example. There's a half page section about bone broth and whether or not it has actual benefits vs. being a hyped up trend...but that section is included on a recipe that doesn't contain bone broth as one of the ingredients. That's a weird place to put that information. One would think it might be included in say, a soup recipe. The book is filled with this strange sort of placement for information, so it makes it annoying to return to for references.Second, the recipes themselves, while delicious (so far) do not have a ton of variety. The section on lunch...EVERY LAST ONE is a salad. Don't get me wrong, salad is fantastic, definitely trying to eat more of them, but I don't want to have salad for lunch *every* day. (Winter especially, is hard to have salad every day in a northern climate. We've got limited fresh produce options because everything is covered in snow, so at times salad can feel impossible to eat, regardless of my preference for variety.) Other sections of the book have a lot of overlap too. There are a few different recipes for tostadas, and the majority of the seafood section focuses on shrimp (which is highly problematic when you're allergic. Half the book is out!) The repetitiveness would probably be less noticeable if there were more recipes overall. Each section has roughly a dozen, so when you're flipping through looking for ideas while meal planning, it's really obvious that there isn't much variety being offered. Many of the recipes will not work well for families either. I know my kids are gonna flat-out refuse the majority of them, but even if they didn't, the portion sizes may or may not be enough for our family of 4. I've got to read the recipes carefully to know if I need to double ingredients before I go grocery shopping. It'll say it feeds 4, but when you look at the amounts of ingredients, it doesn't line up with what 2 adults and 2 pre-teens would be satisfied with. I think one of the recipes had a quarter pound of meat for 4 people?? And that was the main substance of the dish. Finally, I'm disappointed with the book quality itself. The signatures weren't aligned properly with the spine, and the glue is really weak. I bought this early December, put it under the tree as a Christmas gift, and have opened it up to flip through for recipes 3-4 times (if that many). Today is January 9th, and I can already see pages starting to pull away at the bottom of the book, though they're still tight at the top. You can see it in my photo. It's only a matter of time before pages will be falling out.In the sea of great reviews on this book, perhaps I'm an anomaly, but I much prefer my "Fix it with Food" books from Michael Symon as well as "The Anti-Inflammatory Diet & Action Plans" book by Dorothy Calimeris. I feel like those are much more user friendly than this title. I'll still keep this on my shelf, but it's not one I would recommend as a must-have.

Answers for why I am so tired and exhausted everyday

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I really appreciated how this book explains autoimmune disorders in a way that’s easy to understand and not overwhelming. Dr. Redd breaks things down clearly and helps you see why your body may be reacting the way it is, instead of just telling you what to do.What stood out to me most is the focus on how making changes can actually help correct those imbalances. The information felt hopeful and empowering, not scary. Since reading it, I feel like I finally have a path forward to living a better life and, most importantly, not feeling so tired all the time. This book feels written for real people who are exhausted and just want answers that make sense. I highly recommend it to anyone dealing with autoimmune issues or chronic fatigue.

This book saves lives! It saved mine!

Josh Redd’s ‘The anti inflammatory diet’ has changed my life in ways that other doctors and health plans couldn’t. I struggle with chronic illnesses and have suffered in pain and discomfort for a long time until I invested in myself and my health with the help of Josh Redd. This book helps you not just with delicious, and healthy meals but helps you to understand your body’s function when under attack from inflammation and the key steps to improve, and recover. Josh’s book, and knowledge has brought me peace & balance to my body and mind. It has taught me how to use food as medicine + how to take genuine care of my body!

Tastes good. Terrible binding quality.

I have used this book about 6 times now for recipes. Each recipe has been really good. Perfect for what I need: healthy. Easy. Dummy proof. What I don't like about the book (I purchased the paper back) is the binding is AWFUL.The second time using the book, the binding started showing signs of issues. Now, I'm currently meal planning, and pages are falling out. It's really difficult to have a cookbook, meant for wear and tear in the kitchen, that you can't use because it falls apart when you turn the pages.

317 pages of fighting inflammation with food!

What a great surprise! This book is so valuable. The introduction is written so clearly and explains all about food and inflammation in the body. I love the way the book is laid out so clearly with beautiful photographs all throughout. There are so many delicious looking recipes. I'm so excited to dive in! I'm very happy to have come across this book. There were a lot of books to sift through, but the best thing about this one is the author clearly believes in what she is presenting and has spent a lot of work and research putting it together. Being able to see the photos of the recipes is so motivating and especially because there are so many to choose from. I'm so glad I found this book! The book arrived packaged with a piece of cardboard protecting a soft cover. I'm so thankful for that because the last cookbook I ordered a few days ago from another seller arrived bent. When I buy a new book. I love that it looks new in every way! I'm so happy with this seller and this great find.

Obsessed!!

My husband and I have been on a healing journey for a few years now, but I was having a hard time coming up with meal ideas and finding recipes that weren’t hurtful to us and/or didn’t take hours to cook with crazy ingredients we just don’t have. Plus, it’s very hard to find clean recipes that don’t have excess salt or processed foods etc.I decided to get a cookbook and follow it from beginning to end (Julie and Julia style) making each recipe in order ever night. I decided on Meals that Heal and could not be happier with it.My husband and I have become OBSESSED with this book!! Each recipe is easy, fun, simple and delicious!!!!!!!!! Also- we notice that each recipe leaves us feeling full, energized, and light- instead of feeling bloated and tired after we eat.I love the way we are educated through the book on inflammation, buying condiments and meat etc… and just educated in general about eating in a way that is healing instead of hurtful for our bodies.I would recommend this book to anyone!!! The recipes are absolutely delicious, fun and easy to make, and it goes exactly what it says it will- HEAL!

Great recipes, but ...

Very colorful photos. Simple easy to follow recipes. Wish more of the recipes were vegan or contained substitutions.

Great cookbook, very informative

So many great recipes in here! I've been on a real big cabbage kick lately, so the Light Beef & Cabbage Soup with Garlicand Olive Oil & Stuffed Cabbage Rolls with Tomato Herb Sauce really grabbed my interest. Lot of addition tools and info that's really useful, including things like a "detox" guide and a pantry purge. Can't wait to use this in day to day life.

Finally, a helpful resource for my inflammation journey

I really like this book. Not only because of the set up but also because I deal with inflammation daily due to fibromyalgia and arthritis. I always go for stuff that's not only simple and easy but also doesn't make me feel like I have to completely change my life or spend hours in the kitchen on my feet over a stove. What I really like is the recipes are actually doable, the last thing I want or need is a recipe that takes hours and requires a million ingredients. These recipes give me options that are realistic for everyday life. I also love that I don't have to pick through the recipes and have to worry if I can eat that or if it will mess with me, I'm also diabetic as well so this book is a plus, everything is also diabetic friendly. If you're dealing with inflammation and need/want options and ideas that actually work for you and not against you or have you feeling like you're being put on a miserable diet then I think this is for you.

Excellent Source of Information

I am giving this book 5 stars even though I did not know what some of the vegetables they use in the recipes. I had to look them up and find out what they were, which was very educational. The one thing I like the most about the book was the fact that the book gave you breathing and other exercise’s to calm yourself if you were stressed. I found all of the food involved in the detox to be clean and healthy, and the author who is a doctor gave lots of good information about cortisol and detoxing.I would recommend this book for the information and the recipes if you are experiencing any kind of inflammation.

Road to Health Again

This book contains every step you need in your kitchen for preparing your non-inflammatory, cortisol detoxing food. There is no doubt that it will help so many people with not only the explanation of what all of it means for our bodies when it comes to inflammation and cortisol, but they even include an entire cookbook of recipes on how to prepare and eat to bring back your body to how it 'used' to feel.I am an extremely picky eater and many of these recipes are more 'meatless' and I am a big meat eater. I eat beef and chicken from known sources, even been to the ranches they were raised on. I know they are clean from start to finish so I feel safe in eating them. I could probably adjust some of the recipes to include meat in them. There is great information in this book and if you love details, you are going to love it.I gave it a 4 out of 5 because I am simple and quick and some of these preparations seemed a little complicated to me.

Recipes are not what I had hoped for

I didn't need yoga instructions. The recipes are not for the laymand. Some ingredients in the menus ive never heard of. The dishes may not take long to prepare but grocery shopping would be difficult for me to find the ingredients. I was hoping for something alittle more simple and not something for a chief to prepare at a 5star restaurant. Sorry, unless your a nutritional specialist this book i would not recommend it to you

More than just a cookbook

As someone who has a very high metabolism and often struggles to gain and maintain a steady weight, I found this book to be a valuable read. Stress has always had a major impact on my eating habits, often causing me to skip meals or lose my appetite for days, which makes it even harder to stay consistent with my nutrition goals. What I appreciated most about this book is that it goes beyond recipes. It helped me better understand how stress, cortisol, and inflammation affect the body while providing practical meal ideas, planning tools, and simple strategies for staying nourished during difficult periods. The approach feels realistic and focuses on building sustainable habits rather than striving for perfection.Overall, this book educated me on how to better care for my body when stress affects my eating habits.
